And remember, the weather is going to be amazing!

- Prinsengrachtconcert: A classical music concert on the canals of Amsterdam, Saturday 18th, in front of the Pulitzer hotel. http://www.grachtenfestival.nl/concert_overview.vm

- Lowlands: The Netherland’s most famous festival on August 17th, 18th and 19th. Not in Amsterdam and probably sold out but definitely worth a shot if you’re a music lover. http://lowlands.nl/.

- Blijburg: The city beach in Amsterdam where it’s see and be seen. Great cocktails! http://www.blijburg.nl/

- De Parade: Theater, music, dance, food and drinks in a cute, hip atmoshpere. http://www.deparade.nl/default.asp?category=prog&subcat=a

- Vondelpark: Our ‘Central Park’ where you can sit, eat, relax, drink, walk, etc.

- Rent a boat: Rent a boat and enjoy Amsterdam from the water. There are plenty of companies where you can rent a boat: http://www.boaty.nl/, http://www.smidtje.nl, http://canalcompany.com/ne/index.php

On Tuesday 21st August, Bor Verkroost hosts a unique presentation at Amsterdam’s Got Game Conference. Only a few dare to touch this particular controversial topic: disabled gamers. Designers of video games often forget to take this niche market into account, and that is unfortunate. All hardcore gamers eventually become less mobile. Moreover, at the moment there are about 2.4 million elderly in the Netherlands. In the year 2025 there will be 3.7 million and rising. The number of elderly people, thus gamers will increase explosively.

During this session, Bor invites the audience to think about the difficult but unavoidable question: What can we, gaming experts, do in times where the tools and games are becoming increasingly mobile; full of real movements and complicated controllers. “Ageing and the new technologies are as opposed as fire and water. And not to forget, perhaps us disabled are even more fanatic at gaming than the average gamer. Our limited mobility may lead to less social contacts and can be reasons to find indoor entertainment and play games. And to think that more than one million Dutch have a limitation. Think of the blind, deaf, wheelchair users, etc. Add to that the elderly and we are left with quite a sizeable audience to take into account”, explains Bor.

Oliver Kern, Director of Performance and Intelligence at IQU will provide an overview of the State-of-Play from a marketing perspective and highlight the Do’s and Don’ts when deciding to self-publish a great game. The audience will gain a better understanding of the marketplace and the influencing factors of successful go to market strategies” Oliver Kern, IQU.
About IQU
We founded iQU™ in 2009 to service the online interactive entertainment market. As gamers ourselves, we saw that although the industry was growing rapidly, there was little information available about the gamers driving that growth. So we created GameriQU™, a sophisticated platform that maps gamer behavior, and we now operate the most comprehensive database of online gamer profiles. GameriQU tracks gamer activities wherever they happen, across multiple platforms and around the world. We apply this behavioral knowledge to form connections between gamers, publishers and advertisers, creating a more robust marketplace for online games.
